MTN Uganda launched a digital campaign dubbed ‘Choose To Challenge’ aimed at celebrating women challenging the status quo.

The campaign was about nominating women making a positive change in different communities below their tweet on Twitter.

“We’re all surrounded by incredible women who inspire us every day. Nominate a woman making a positive change in your community for special MTN recognition. Tell us who she is and what she has done to make a difference. Use the tags #MTNWomen #WomensDay #ChooseToChallenge” MTN tweeted.

MTN selected 5 Women winners from the campaign and announced them on their Twitter handle that every winner will be given 1,000,000shs from MTN which will be sent to their MTN Mobile Money numbers.

Eve Zalwango – She has opened doors for mentorship for women interested in carpentry. Through FUNDI Women programme, she is skilling women with carpentry skills & hopes to have impacted over 300 women in the 5 years.

Christine Walubo – She gathered her colleagues to support a needy Karamojong woman. Got the woman’s child to school, got a Ugandan foster parent for the child when the mum persisted with street-begging.

Esther Birungi – For her great work towards the #GirlChild in Uganda. Over 900 girls have benefited from her campaign #PadThruCovid.

Iryn Namubiru

Iryn Namubiru – Iryn has entertained world through her music and inspired many young girls to join music. Through her NGO Gather 4 children, she has helped women and kids with different necessities like food, land for farming.

Joan Kem – Passionate about Menstrual Hygiene Management for young girls in her community. Since many young girls have little, inaccurate, or incomplete knowledge about menstruation, she carries out peer-to-peer sessions to teach them.
