Ugandan music streamers can now access Spotify. With Spotify, you can listen to music and play millions of songs and podcasts for free. Stream music and podcasts you love and find music or your next favorite song from all over the world.

Spotify makes streaming music easy with curated playlists and thousands of podcasts you can’t find anywhere else. Find music from new artists, stream your favorite album or playlist and listen to music you love for free.

In Uganda today, the music streaming market has players like MTN Tidal, Audiomack, Youtube Music, Apple Music, Shazam, Deezer and local platforms such as MTN MusicTime and Boomplay.

For this expansion, the company announced that it will also introduce new features and upgrade its podcast catalogue to fit into new markets.

Currently, Spotify is available in 93 markets, after the company officially launched in South Korea, the world’s sixth-largest music market, on Feb. 1. The biggest single country Spotify remains shut out of is China.

In Africa, Spotify is now available in  39  nations which include Uganda, Kenya, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Capo Verde, Cameroon, Chad, Comoros, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Estwani, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea and Guinea Bissau. The rest are Ivory Coast, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Nigeria and Rwanda. Others include Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Before this latest expansion, African users only got access to the streaming service via VPN, except for users in South Africa, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria and Tunisia, where it launched in 2018.

Spotify will also move into the Caribbean, Asia, Europe and Latin America. The streaming platform is arguably the largest music streaming platform in the world.
