Anne Juuko is new Stanbic Uganda CEO; Patrick Mweheire moves to Nairobi as EA regional head. 

Anne Juuko is set to be the youngest and first female Stanbic Uganda CEO ever, since Standard Bank Holdings Limited acquired 90 percent shareholding in the Uganda Commercial Bank, a government-owned retail banking operation, which had the largest branch distribution network in the country.

Anne is to replace Patrick Mweheire, who has now been appointed as Standard Bank Holding’s Regional Chief Executive East Africa, effective 1st March 2020. 

Stanbic Bank Uganda (SBU) is one of the 25 licensed commercial banks by Bank of Uganda. The bank is a majority owned subsidiary of Stanbic Africa Holdings Limited, which is in turn owned by Standard Bank Group Limited.

Patrick will be responsible for Standard Bank Holding’s growth strategy in East Africa which comprises of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Sudan and Ethiopia

Stanbic Banks’ Japheth Katto had this to say about Anne, 

“Anne brings on board a wealth of experience in the financial industry with regionally and global expertise in banking for 20 years. She has been a part of the Standard Bank Group for over 8 years having joined as Head of Global Markets for Stanbic Bank Uganda and was later appointed Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank, Namibia.”

Anne Juuko is a Ugandan Investment Banker and Corporate executivewho is designated as the next Managing Director and CEO of Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, the largest commercial bank in the country, by assets, valued at nearly US$1.5 billion in 2018.

She started her banking career in 2001. For a period in the 2000s, she served as Vice President and Head of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities aT Citibank Uganda Limited. She was then transferred to Citibank Kenya Limited, serving there as Vice President, Customer Sales and Derivatives Marketing, for two years, from June 2010 until June 2012.

In 2012, she was hired by Standard Bank Group, as head of Global Markets for Stanbic Bank Uganda, serving in that capacity until December 2017. In January 2018, she took up a new appointment as Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Standard Bank Namibia, a role she served in until February 2020.

Throughout her career, Anne has exhibited exemplary performance, winning the highly coveted accolades such as the Primary Dealer of the Year award for 6 consecutive years. 

She has also demonstrated exceptional leadership and stellar performance that will see her set to achieve Stanbic Bank Uganda’s strategy and vision as CEO. She is expected to enter office on 1 March 2020.
